At Scruff of the Neck we release records, publish writers and promote live concerts & festivals – even host a TV show live from our studio in Manchester – all to help develop talent we love and introduce you to your next favourite artist.

 

The Challenge

From beginnings over a decade ago, organising gigs in the back room of a pub, Scruff of the Neck grew rapidly, expanding into related fields to comprise a live music promoting arm, a label arm, a publishing admin arm and a creative content arm. Our growth and increasing need for expertise eventually outpaced the capacity of our founding team.

 

The Solution

MRC, with founder and Managing Director Ray Bush at the helm, took on our year-end accounting, VAT returns, payroll, and royalty statements. MRC consult for us with a weekly call, and Ray, who stepped in as our CFO, is always a phone call away for urgent advice and problem-solving, in at least one example offering invaluable insight and guidance on a neighbouring rights deal. With MRC now handling all these critical functions and bringing their insider knowledge to bear – essentially serving as our entire finance department – we can focus on our core roles, confident that Ray and his team know our business, care about our business and will go to bat for it every time.
